Gift carries sincerity and eternal intimacy. It is the embodiment of love, and it is more eloquent than all the words we can utter to express our love for others. Gifts make lovers happy not because of their material value, but also for their moral value which is greater and more important. I choose to study gifts in the poems of “Theocritus”, as we find that the heroes of his poems fell in love, A love that reached the point of madness sometimes, and most of them showed their love and affection by offering and giving many different gifts ,as they used the gifts as the means through which they could invade the heart of the beloved , reach her and win her over. This study aims to shed light on the impact of the gifts of lovers in the pastorals of “Theocritus”, and to monitor the reactions of the beloved when receiving these gifts, and if these gifts have a positive or negative impact?. On the other hand, did these gifts contribute to winning the heart of the lover and wooing him, and achieved the goal ? or it had no effect? , and what is the effect of this on the lover who offers these gifts? . The reason behind my choosing poem number three, eleven and poem twenty-seven is because they represent three different models in which the idea of gifts appears clearly, and they represent a complete story and not just scattered references and excerpts .
