Abstract

Symbolism is considered one of the important literary tools that poets rely on to convey their ideas and visions indirectly. In the epyllion of Moschus' Europa, we find numerous symbols that require contemplation and interpretation.
This research aims to analyze the symbolic signs in epyllion Europa through the study of spatial signs that link myth with history ang geography, the political signs that reflect the cultural and political changes in the Hellenistic age, and finally, the sexual signs that reveal the psychological and emotional states of the characters.
