In this paper, the researcher relied on the historical method, which relies on collecting information from papyrus documents about the ἐνοικολόγος collector of rents for urban properties in Egypt in the Byzantine period, analyzing and linking them with complete objectivity and extracting results that are represented in knowing the tasks of this job and knowing the time period in which it appeared, also the salary that this employee receives, the duration of his occupation of the job, and finally the arrangement of this job in the functional hierarchy of the estate in which he works.
