Abstract

This research deals with the myth of Greek gods fleeing to Egypt, during the attack of “Typhon” the monstrous giant, where each of them hid in the form of an animal or a bird. The research pursues to analyze this myth, its interpretation, and its implications; it discusses the time of the myth’s emergence, as well as the relation of Greek gods with ancient Egyptian gods, and the hypothesis of the Egyptian origins of the “Typhon” myth and Greek Gods fleeing and their transformation into animals, and the similarity between “Typhon” and the Egyptian god, “Set”. Furthermore, through the Greek mythical narratives, the study explores the Greeks’ insight into Egypt as a refuge for them in times of stress. The researcher will rely on analytical, comparative, and historical approaches.
